It is that time of year when residents, community organisations, interest groups, and stakeholders are invited to take part in the Draft Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Review and proposed amendment for 2026/2027, as well as the Draft Municipal Budget and a couple of other related documents.
The IDP is Overstrand Municipality’s five-year roadmap, guiding service delivery, infrastructure planning, budget allocation, and long-term development. Your input ensures the plan reflects the real needs and priorities of our communities, helping shape decisions that affect everyday life – from neighbourhoods and safety to business, the environment, and family wellbeing.
In addition to the Draft IDP Review and proposed amendment, the following documents are also open for public comment until Thursday, 30 April 2026:
- Draft Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and targets for 2026/27 (Draft Top Layer Service Delivery and Budget Implementation Plan – SDBIP)
- Draft Water Services Development Plan (WSDP) 2026/27
- Draft Disaster Management Plan (DMP) 2026/27

Residents who cannot submit in writing may visit the Community Liaison offices in Gansbaai, Stanford, Hermanus, or Kleinmond during office hours, where staff will assist in transcribing comments. The documents are also available for viewing at the Community Liaison offices, all public libraries in the Overstrand, the Corporate Head Office in Hermanus, and on the municipality’s website, www.overstrand.gov.za > Documents.
Ward Committee IDP and Budget roadshows will also be held throughout the month, and a workshop with all councillors will take place so they can help explain what the IDP and Draft Budget mean for residents in their wards.
All comments received by 30 April 2026 will be considered by Council when reviewing and finalising the IDP, WSDP, DMP, and Draft Budget at a meeting scheduled for 27 May 2026.
